It’s been a dizzying 4 months of babyhood, growing kids, grad school, and coping with the loss of our beloved Grandpa Jacobs. All of which I want to give justice to as they’re written. Realistically, I probably won’t be able to dive in deep until mid October after my finals end. So here’s a little snapshot of life rn

THE PROPERTY

Taylor & I fight the good fight to retain cleanliness, organization, and soft classical music on the Bluetooth speakers.

It ain’t working.

We did get a new flock of hens & finally got our vegetable garden going!

THE PEOPLE

Taylor – presumably still employed. Idk where he goes all day. Maybe selling amway?

Chaunbon – physically present; mentally grumbling about tax laws.

Arrow – having a tougher season of life, unfortunately. Lots of ups and downs navigating a new teacher and growing up into a tween. It has been a big adjustment, but she’s finding her groove! She adores having a baby sister and often totes Terra away to snuggle.

Archer – thriving in 3rd grade! As always, he loves his fact books. This is the first school year where he’ll have corrected vision and medication. Because of that- a new world has opened up for him! He comes home everyday so excited to show us what he’s learned in class. I’ll write more about Archer’s story here but suffice to say he is doing really well.

Sander – Professional mischief maker! Favorite game is called “flood the yard” which is exactly as muddy as it sounds 🙃 technically he’s not allowed to play this game, but he regularly utilizes “act now, pray for forgiveness later” strategy. School is going fine for him, but he’d rather be digging in the yard.

Terra – Continues to be the happiest baby in the block. Has learned to blow bubbles. Also loves to sit in her garden seat and watch the world go by.

THE PETS

The hens get an honorary mention although they don’t deserve it. These idiots will sometimes escape into neighboring yards at 5 am and then scream the entire way home as I chase them back in my tattered bathrobe.

Junior, of course, is orange.

Arrow got two more pet mice!

Finally, we had a baby bunny named Joey for all of two seconds before it suddenly died 😦
