So much love for our Chloe pup

Our beloved Chloe passed away over Thanksgiving.

While we knew her end was near, we didn’t expect it to happen so quickly.

We adopted her fully knowing she had terminal cancer — mammary tumors had developed, likely due to not being spayed in her younger years. It was somber going into the adoption aware she had less than a year to live. Maybe even six months.

Well that good girl kept hanging on for another 18 months.

Chloe showed signs of degradation in the days leading up to her death. Her arthritis seemed to be exacerbated. She was worn out.

But on Wednesday morning, our darling pup had a fantastic burst of energy. Snow had fallen, which is her very favorite thing. She hopped at the door – yes, this hundred pound dog hops when she’s excited! – and raced outside to frolic and play with Taylor and the kids.

She was her normal happy self, filled with fluff and love.

Later that morning, we found her collapsed in the hallway, panting heavily and unblinking. I immediately called Taylor, who had left for the afternoon. That dear girl held on until Taylor came rushing through the front door. As soon as she heard him say “Oh my good girl”, Chloe let go and crossed the rainbow bridge. Just waiting for Dad to come home before saying goodbye. 😦

It’s only been a few days but it still feels so surreal.

How we miss you, Bo-Bo. ❤️
