a 2nd grade field trip to the airplane museum

Arrow’s class took a field trip to an airplane museum!

At first, I pitied these kids because who wants to look at a bunch of old planes? This trip seemed like a lame outing compared to Archer’s field trip to the aquarium.

But oh boy, was I wrong!

I got to chaperone this little crew of kids from Arrow’s class. They were SO excited to see it all. Their excitement rubbed off on me. The airplane museum turned out to be great.

We started with a chemistry lesson taught by the museum staff.

A couple of kids made “slime” for all the students to take home. None of the other parent chaperones were thrilled by this 😉

Then my little crew and I explored the galleries by completing a paper scavenger hunt.

We saw planes and relics. There was a lot to learn about the people in the early days of aviation!

The giant airplanes outside were a big hit 🙂

Lesson learned: kids will love anything with a game & a good attitude.

Plus a picnic lunch never hurts, either 🙂

Thanks for teaching me the delights of a plane museum, darling Arrow!
