The winter getaway

One of our favorite winter traditions is an overnight stay in a hotel. It’s a nice way of escaping the post-Christmas chaos, but also have something to look forward to before school starts back up. Here’s a recap of our first NYE getaway here.

Here we go. Again 🙂

The evening began at the kids’ favorite pizza place. Tay and I find it a little bit disgusting but we had gift cards so /shrug.

Then we checked into this uber nice hotel room that we’d scored a fabulous deal on. There was an issue with our reservation, so the staff kindly updated us to this awesome room.

I love the simplicity of stay in a hotel / airbnb space. It always inspires me how much more minimal we can be at home.

Of course, much time was spent in the pool 🙂 A novel for us winter dessert dwellers!

(I let the kids dip their feet in the hot pool for a few minutes.)

This is the first year I’ve got some pool side reading done. (Pretty luxurious that the older two can swim while Daddy totes Sander around!) Do you recognize this book?

Arrow has been obsessed with the series lately so I’m catching up on what she’s reading.

The next morning, after some cable Bluey and more swimming, we went out to our fave chain place: Cafe Rio 🙂 It’s the horchata that brings us back.

Finally, we wrapped up our little staycation at this indoor bounce house:

…where Arrow and Archer watched helplessly as Sander yeeted himself into the next dimension.

Such a fun getaway to break up the winter grays.
