This year, the tree was donned with some new ornaments. The most magical of the bunch was this bigfoot ornament that my talented friend Jackie made:
My family hired Jackie to make all kinds of funky gifts this year. I asked her to make “bleach” and “motor oil” themed mugs for my sister & her husband. My mom asked for cryptid themed ornaments. You know. Normal for Christmas festivities.
(Check out her facebook store here. She can, apparently, design and print whatever your strange heart desires!)
Moving on!
Arrow also came home with a newly designed ornament (on the right)
Oh how my heart melts to see that little face grow older each year!
Archer made his very first school ornament as well:

❤️❤️❤️
The tree also got some nostalgic lovin by ornaments of my childhood. I couldn’t find the school-photo-glued-to-a-snowflake ornaments, but I did find this snowman. Just seeing this dude brings me back to the days I would untie and retie that scarf around his neck.

And then this French Horn that takes me back to the time each of my siblings and I picked out our instruments in ornament form. I had a clarinet, and I believe Kaye and Cami had a flute and cello, respectively. I couldn’t find any of those, so I stole Kylee’s French Horn.

Oh and these dumb little pears!

Every year my dad would invest in a new ornament theme. One year it was apples, and the next it was pears. Twelve year old me found a fruit tree repulsive for reasons only a pre-teen could understand. Little me would not be happy to see those pears and apples now covering my very grown-up tree. 😂

Oh. And we can’t forget the boys’ contributions. After Archer & Sander smashed nearly every glass ornament (with a decent amount of help from the cat), they replaced the broken globes with decorations of their own:
Truly, a tree representing our American heritage.
Next year I plan to take the kids to pick out a new ornament just how my parents did for their kids. I’m excited to have my “winter wonderland” dreams crushed by the inevitable, yet festive “firetrucks, ninjas, and firebreathing dragons” that they’ll bring home. 🙂
