Kylee & Joe’s wedding

Ky wants to keep the special day as a private affair, but gave me permission share the “detail” shots of the ceremonies. This is a blessing for two reasons. 1) The day was so beautiful that even Pinterest is dripping in envy and 2) This big sister loves to keep a family journal and loves to show off her family 🙂

So let’s do this.

THE DRESS

Kylee saw this dress in the window of a bridal shop years ago in a rural Virginia town when we were touring a college together. Although she didn’t end up attending the school, the dress was always in the back of her mind, just waiting for the perfect person. When she knew Joe was the one, she reached out to that tiny shop in a rural Virginia town to see if they still had that dress. By the grace of the wedding gods, they had one left, and were only a month away from discontinuing that dress for good.

I swear this dress was made for Kylee and that it had patiently bided its time in a shaded store front, waiting for the day when she’d walk it down the aisle.

The beaded back lace is simply stunning.

THE CEREMONY

The ceremony was held outdoors at a place in Park City, UT called “The Church of Dirt”. The chilly morning paired perfectly with the crisp mountain views.

Again, not too many photos from this sacred event. But look at the decor Ky & Joe made.

THE RINGS

Kylee is a ring maker. She built not only Joe’s engagement ring, but both of their wedding bands as well.

I hope I inherit Kylee’s engagement ring because that thing is stupidly gorgeous.

THE RECEPTION

After a lovely family luncheon, we gathered at a bird refuge for the reception. (Tracy Aviary in SLC, UT)

Every detail was carefully planned. To the curated backdrops to the specially crafted cake cuttingware.

Our grandmother made the wedding cake and our grandfather built the witnesses’ pen:

The tables were tastefully decorated:

The desserts were delightfully tasteful 🙂

Then the night had come to an end and it was time for the two lovebirds to take off for a Hawaiian honeymoon!

Now, I’m going to divagate a little bit here. Because I have to talk about the second greatest gift next to my sister finding her person. And of course, that gift was the moment we officially married Joe into the family. We could not be a complete family without him. He’s a big brother for us bio kids, a buddy to quietly vibe with at family gatherings (our parties are v v noisy, and it can be a bit much for the married-in kids), someone who is both the literal perfect gentleman but has a dark sense of humor that leaves everyone doing that doubled-over-gasping-wheeze-laugh thing.

This family has really lucked out with the in-laws. We adore you Taylor, Maddie, and Joe.

And of course, for the sake of this post, we are especially so happy for these two knuckleheads.

Ok. Back to business. The wedding was gorgeous, and Kylee you looked hot. Amen.

xoxo!
