Seven Quick Takes of losing a bet, beating Bezo at his own game, and still-photos of fruit.

Stealing a page from Jenny of Unremarkablefiles.com’s book. I love her hilarious weekly recaps and wanted to give it a try!

Every winter, Taylor and I become re-addicted to a computer game called Sid Meier’s Civilization. This year, for his birthday, I got him “Imperial Settlers”, a card game heavily based on the computer game.

We were hoping to spend less time on the computer. I guess it worked because we played every night for 4 days. But it’s fine because we were gaming together.

My daughter has an impressive menagerie of squishmallows and needed a net to contain the stuffy chaos. There’s something particularly aggravating about buying something I can make myself, so I pulled out the crochet hooks.

This cute net actually matches the colors of her bedspread. So not only did I save $15, but she got it customized to her room. 🥰

Speaking of being an obnoxiously frugal person, I found a set of new IKEA kid plasticware on Facebook marketplace.

This set isn’t expensive by any means, but I did get it a dollar cheaper than the sales price, and was able to pay a neighbor instead of the big box stores.

Plus it kept the 3 year old busy organizing his dishes for a solid 20 minutes. Wins all around!

Whenever Taylor and I are having a disagreement, we solve it like how most couples do: making a bet.

The conditions for this bet was based on whether or not Taylor’s car had a certain feature. He claimed it did, and I claimed it didn’t. If he won, I had to rake the yard. If I won, then he had to winterize my bike gear.

Anyway, here’s Taylor cleaning my bike:

It’s all in good fun of course. But he’s probably learned not to question the lady who does all the car cleaning around here.

Utah has been enduring a severe drought for years. The diminishing water levels have been bad for our crops, lakes, and even our backyard gardens.

Surprisingly, a decent amount of snow has been dumping on us since Thanksgiving. These icicles aren’t like the 10 foot long stalactites my dad used to kick down from the roof of my childhood home. But we’re hopefully optimistic this is a sign of the drought coming to an end.

Take #6

Did you know cats can get kidney crystals? Junior used to get them all the time until the vet recommended giving him distilled water. It’s been years since his last kidney infection, but we still finding him sneaking a drink from an unattended cup of water or licking the bathtub drain after a shower. (Nasty.)

This week I caught him with his most recent antic: drinking the droplets from the humidifier. Whatever it takes to fulfill the crave for filthy tap water I guess. Little stinker.

You know those Facebook status’s that say to “post your most recent photo with no explanation”? Well, this is what I have to offer.

My kids have two objectives with my cell phone. 1. Call Papa as many times as possible before Mom notices and 2. Take 200 abstract photos of an orange.

I don’t make the rules. I just live here.
