a chocolate factory tour

I’ve been meaning to take a tour of Salt Lake City’s chocolate factory but it kept getting put off for one reason or another (Rona, moving out of state, not moving out of state, etc.). Finally, with summer at the close, I hurriedly called up my family and asked if they would join us in the tour on a random Monday afternoon.

Part of touring the factory also meant trying a bitter cocoa nib:

And watching a possibly falsified documentary. But I won’t tell. 🙂

We learned the inspirational story of a woman who began selling fudge out of her Colorado home and eventually building her empire in SLC. (I love black and white photos sm)

And then tried some of her recipe for frozen custard. Chocolate cherry was my absolute favorite 🙂

Archer has asked me at least twice a day in the past two weeks when we’re going back to the chocolate factory. Next summer, buddy. If you’ll remind me.

Glad you could make it Mom & Kaye!

P.S. I didn’t know where to fit this in the post. But on our way to the factory, we passed the massive oil refinery in Salt Lake on the freeway.

From the backseat, Archer suddenly screamed “IS THAT THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY?!” His eyes were nearly as wide as the vats of oil, imagining all the towers were filled with glorious chocolate.

I still haven’t stopped laughing about it.
