a new back to school night

In true chaotic Jacobs’ fashion, we decided to start a new school for the 3rd time.

And by “decided”, I mean that we signed on a house purchase (!) and spent the rest of the day enrolling the children in the new school because school was starting in 5 days and the back-to-school-night event was that night.

I’m sweating bullets just remembering how that day went down.

But let’s talk about the back to school night! We arrived to quite the party:

Back in myyyy day, we elementary kids would race up to the school’s front doors, check the posted classroom lists for our names, and then immediately call our friends on the landline with the news. Kids these days have it gooood.

We enjoyed the little dinner put out for the families and met with the kids’ new teachers. Archer here is about to become a kindergartner.

My heart is snapped in two but he’s feelin pretty jolly about it. (If you can call that a jolly expression… I’m a little frightened tbh.)

We had to take a quick family picture together to celebrate the moment (:

Good to know these kids know how to smile for family photos.

I didn’t catch a picture of Arrow in her new classroom, but safe to say she’s hopeful about her new teacher. (She adored her first grade teacher and is mourning the transition of another school.)

It’s tough to start a new school again, but we have high hopes. The school seems pretty fun and some of Taylor’s extended family also attend here, so all of our kids will get to be buddies! That was wonderful to catch up with his cousins that evening.

Looking forward to a fresh start to settle for the next chapter of our lives. ❤
