A loving Valentine’s Day

I don’t have a ton of time to write this up, but let me share what I can.

Valentine’s Day was extra special this year thanks to my community.

The afternoon of valentine’s day found me at the grocery store, scrambling to find cards to drop off at my son’s preschool class. I had sent too few with him.

The shelves were empty, already filling with St Patricks Day and EASTER decorations.

I was so worried some little kiddos were going to get their hearts broken.

A woman in the aisle overheard my distress. She approached me and said “I have an extra box of cards at my house my kids ended up not using. Would you like them?”

I kid you not that I teared up.

I drove to her home nearby, so grateful for this random act of kindness- and only mildly concerned how easy it is to lure to me a strangers house with the promise of a box of candy – and picked up the box of cards.

I scribbled my son’s names on the cards and arrived at the school, grumpy and worn thin.

Then the party started 🙂

Sander curled right into his sister’s laps for the games. I was impressed with how welcoming the other 6 year olds were in sharing their treats and toys with this little 3 year old.

I went in between Arrow and Archer’s classes helping out wherever I was wanted. One of those times included reading books to those little preschoolers while the teachers divided up the treats:

We had a fancy pink & purple themed Valentine’s dinner to celebrate (complete with leftover batman valentine’s cards 🙂 )

Even Junior got a treat for dinner. Please enjoy this horrifying photo of him devouring meat.

Finally, a new friend of mine brought by this little gift, which made me tear up again 🙂

My heart was so full from all the love shown to me and the love I was able to give back. I ❤ Valentine’s Day.
