all things bright and beautiful on Halloween

featuring my sister’s cat screaming at ghosts

Since Halloween was on a Sunday this year, we celebrated on Saturday. To kick off the holiday, we took our friends Randy & Celest out to lunch for Randy’s birthday!

We randomly lucked out having 3 separate gifts cards to the Cheesecake Factory (No doubt a result of Taylor selling out Star Wars trivia to thirsty nerds) and had a really lovely meal together. Happy Randay, Randy!

Every year I make a special Halloween dinner for my family. These really cute breadbowls happened to be in the clearance section at Great Harvest, so I went with a pumpkin theme for dinner 🙂

Man I’m still drooling over these.

Trick or Treating with the littles was great fun. We had a trunk or treat with our local church earlier that week, and then went up to my in laws for our traditional treats & games.

I completely forgot to get a family picture of our costumes. In fact, I didn’t get a picture of my own children. But never fear, I did remember to get one of Maren and myself as fairy tale creatures! (She is a glowing, magical, wooded nymph. I am, obviously, in character of “Maiden in Red Skirt”).

But wait… what’s that creature lurking on his phone?

I cannot name it, for I do not know its face. Though, it suspiciously looks a whole lot like my father in law. 🙂

Once the kids got their fill of candy, we ordered them to watch as much Paw Patrol as their little eyes could handle while we adults had some game time. But games didn’t last too long… my in laws neighborhood is the kind that gives out king size candy bars. Something that my SIL Maren & I couldn’t resist:

In between card games, Maren and I changed from our costumes into footie jammies (that we somehow just had on hand…?) and went trick or treating. We were so nervous that someone would shame us for it, but instead they just chuckled and gave us a candy bar. Nothing tastes better than free candy!

Then it was back to war:

Halloween treats and games at the Jacobs’ is one of my favorite traditions ever. Love you guys!!
